Cherrilyn Birchwood is a therapist and a PhD Candidate in Psychology at Université de Montréal. Her thesis research focuses on the knowledge mobilisation of mental health information to university students – a group that is at high risk for mental health and psychosocial difficulties. She is also actively involved in grassroots activism and organising, doing work within the racialized, LGBT2QIA*, and feminist communities that she is part of. Facilitating workshops, speaking on and moderating panel discussions, event organising, and direct actions are methods that she has used to engage community members around specific causes. Cherrilyn has been working in mental health for over a decade and hopes to expand the scope of her work through Wisdom2Action’s YAC.
