Jade is a young Afro-L’nu trans woman, artist, educator and community advocate originally from Kjipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki (Halifax, Nova Scotia). She currently is the Director of Operations at Kind Space, a 2SLGBTQIA+ Centre in Ottawa. Since attending NSCAD University for Art History, Jade has been honored to present at conferences and universities across Canada discussing various topics; many of which include intercultural dialogue, social mutualism and intersectional praxis.
Jade strives to create gentle, pragmatic, but rigorous points of entry to EDI through workshops, tool-kits, seminars, or curatorial endeavors such as Trans-Fest, Sanfo-Fest, We are the Griots, and BIPOC BUS. Jade is only turning the wheel that has always been turned by those who came before her; and she hopes she can be part of a solution where justice, stability and equity can exist without the perpetuation of false dichotomies.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Wisdom2Action acknowledges the land on which it was originally established as the traditional and unceded territory of the M’ikmaq, known as Mi’kmak’i (Nova Scotia). Our team is spread across Turtle Island (Canada) on the treaty lands of many First Nations. We recognize the people and the land in this way as part of our commitment to anti-oppression and decolonization. We are all treaty people.
